GUIDE

How overtime pay is estimated

Philippine overtime calculations depend on more than the number of extra hours. The day on which the overtime is performed matters, which is why PaycheckPH lets you choose an ordinary workday, rest day, special non-working day or regular holiday scenario.

Use your basic daily rate and actual overtime hours. If the work also falls within the night-shift window, check the Night Differential Calculator as well because separate premium rules may apply.

Compare overtime by day type

Assume a ₱800 daily rate, an eight-hour divisor and two qualifying overtime hours. The simplified base hourly rate is ₱100. The examples below use the multipliers currently selected by this calculator.

Day typeHourly multiplierTwo-hour estimate
Ordinary day125%₱250
Rest day or special non-working day169%₱338
Special day on rest day195%₱390
Regular holiday260%₱520
Regular holiday on rest day338%₱676

These are pay for the two overtime hours, not the full day's compensation. The eight-hour conversion is an assumption; a monthly-paid employee's contractual daily rate or divisor may differ. Confirm the calendar classification, coverage, compensable hours and breaks. Night differential is a separate calculation when qualifying hours overlap.

FAQ

Overtime Pay Calculator Philippines: frequently asked questions

How do I calculate overtime pay in the Philippines?

For the scenarios modeled by this tool, start with the basic hourly rate, choose the type of day worked, and multiply by the applicable overtime factor and the number of overtime hours. The applicable factor changes depending on whether the work falls on an ordinary day, rest day, special day or regular holiday.

How does this calculator get the hourly rate?

PaycheckPH estimates the basic hourly rate as the daily rate divided by eight. If your payroll uses a different divisor or compensation basis, compare the result with your employer’s payroll method.

Is overtime on a rest day calculated differently?

Yes. Philippine premium-pay and overtime rules can differ when work is performed on a scheduled rest day, special non-working day or regular holiday. Select the matching day type in the calculator instead of using the ordinary-day setting.

Can night differential apply to overtime hours too?

Night differential and overtime can overlap when qualifying work is performed during the statutory night period, but the exact computation depends on the day type and coverage rules. Use the Night Differential Calculator as a separate check and verify the combined payroll treatment when needed.

Is every employee entitled to overtime pay?

Not necessarily. Philippine labor standards contain coverage rules and exemptions for certain workers and situations. This calculator estimates the amount for a covered employee; it does not determine legal eligibility.

Why might my employer’s overtime amount be different?

Differences can come from the daily or hourly rate used, the classification of the day, payroll rounding, the number of compensable hours, or a company policy or agreement that provides a more favorable rate.
