GUIDE

What can be included in Philippine final pay?

Final pay—sometimes called last pay or back pay—is the collection of wages and monetary benefits still due when employment ends. Depending on the employee’s circumstances, this can include unpaid salary, prorated 13th-month pay, cash-convertible leave, tax refunds, separation or retirement pay when due, and other benefits under policy or agreement.

PaycheckPH separates the common components so you can see how each item affects the estimate. Separation pay is not added automatically because entitlement depends on the reason employment ended; use the dedicated Separation Pay Calculator when that applies.

Final pay checklist and example

  • Unpaid salary for work already performed
  • Prorated 13th month pay based on basic salary earned
  • Unused leave convertible under applicable law or policy
  • Tax refunds or adjustments, if any
  • Other earned compensation or benefits due
  • Separation or retirement pay only when applicable
  • Documented authorized deductions

For illustration, ₱12,000 unpaid salary + ₱15,000 prorated 13th month + ₱4,000 convertible leave + ₱2,000 other amounts − ₱3,000 authorized deductions = ₱30,000. Enter actual components in the calculator; its salary and leave fields use the monthly pay and day-divisor assumptions rather than accepting those two amounts directly.

Final pay and separation pay

Final pay is the overall settlement of amounts due at the end of employment. Statutory separation pay is a distinct component that depends on the ground and circumstances; it is not automatically due upon resignation or included in this calculator. Use the separation pay tool separately if relevant. DOLE says final pay should generally be released within 30 days after separation unless a more favorable company policy applies. FAQ

Final Pay Calculator Philippines: frequently asked questions

What is included in final pay in the Philippines?

Final pay can include earned but unpaid salary, prorated 13th-month pay, applicable cash conversion of unused leave, separation or retirement pay when due, tax refunds and other benefits due under law, policy or agreement. Not every component applies to every employee.

When should final pay be released?

DOLE reiterated in January 2026 that, under Labor Advisory No. 06, Series of 2020, final pay should be released within 30 days from the date the employee leaves the company unless a more favorable company policy, agreement or practice applies.

Is separation pay automatically included in final pay?

No. Separation pay is only included when the employee is entitled to it under the applicable ground, law, agreement or company policy. A voluntary resignation does not automatically create statutory separation-pay entitlement.

Does unused leave always have to be converted to cash?

Not every unused leave balance is automatically cash-convertible. Entitlement can depend on the type of leave, statutory requirements, employment contract, collective agreement or company policy.

Can an employer make deductions from final pay?

Valid deductions or accountabilities can affect the final amount. Because the legality and amount of a deduction depend on the circumstances, PaycheckPH lets you enter deductions but does not decide whether a particular deduction is legally authorized.

What can I do if my final pay is delayed?

If the payment remains unresolved, employees can raise the concern with the employer and may seek assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment, including through its dispute-assistance mechanisms. Keep your resignation or termination documents, clearance records and payroll details.
